The Ups and Downs of Business
In the world of business, it’s normal to experience ups and downs. It’s how we manage and overcome these challenges that truly matters. The last few years have been especially difficult on many of us and especially small business owners and entrepreneurs. Learning how to navigate these times wil help you build your resilience and tenacity now and in the future.
If you’re going through a challenging time, what can you do about it? What are some things that you action steps you can take and what are some things that you can work on or focus on to help you move through those times?
The reason I am talking about this is because I have had many experiences of late where working with some clients and they’re just feeling a bit flat, things aren’t going as well as what they wanted to or sales aren’t where they where they need them to be. And there is just a general feeling of people, wondering what tehy can do about it.
Listen to the episode here.
So lets get into some tips to help you naviaget those tough times in business (and life)!
1. Surround yourself with the right people.
One of the key suggestions I often make is to surround yourself with the right people. This could mean seeking support from a therapist, reaching out to friends, or connecting with business colleagues who can provide guidance and encouragement. By surrounding yourself with positive influences, you can avoid being brought down by negativity.
2. Starting Your Day Right
I cannot stress enough the importance of filling your life with the right influences. This involves starting your day in a positive way, such as practicing gratitude, meditation, or listening to empowering podcasts. Avoiding negative influences, like watching the news excessively, can help maintain a positive mindset.
3. Taking Care of Your Energy and Well-being
Another crucial aspect is taking care of your energy and well-being. This includes considering the impact of alcohol, exercise, and diet on your energy levels. By prioritizing activities that improve your energy and mood, you can better handle the challenges in your business.
4. Boosting Sales Without Spending Money
Getting Scrappy and Trying New Strategies. This could involve revisiting past successful tactics or thinking outside the box to find creative solutions. For example, negotiating with suppliers for payment plans or finding inexpensive ways to enhance your store’s display.
As entrepreneurs, we need to take control of what is within our power and make the most of it. This could mean focusing on SEO, doubling down on content marketing, or increasing email communication with customers. I encourage entrepreneurs to think outside the box and get scrappy in their approach.
5. Learning from Case Studies
I’ve shared examples of entrepreneurs who have tried different tactics, such as approaching new sales channels or participating in pop-up sales and markets. It’s important to learn from these case studies and explore new ideas to adapt and diversify your business.
6. Prioritizing Revenue-Generating Activities
Maintaining high energy levels and making a plan to prioritize revenue-generating activities is significant. Surround yourself with positive influences, take care of your well-being, and be open to stepping out of your comfort zone. Ultimately, focus on activities that will have a direct impact on sales and marketing, rather than getting caught up in minor details.
7. Selecting the Right Activities
During tough times, it’s important to select the right activities to focus on. These choices may change over time, but it’s crucial to be aware of what they are in order to effectively navigate through challenges.
